Basic Blues Scale Patterns - This is the second in a series of lessons designed to teach basic blues patterns. It is recommended that you learn the patterns in the order they are produced. A new pattern will follow in a few weeks (so check back soon). You should concentrate on the pattern of the notes and learn to play them in order forward & reverse. Your goal is to play the pattern starting anywhere on the guitar neck (we are using the scale pattern in "G Major" throughout the lessons. When finished, you should be able to "fake" your way through almost any blues song using these techniques. DO NOT THINK OF THIS as learning the scale. My method is to teach the PATTERNS you need to memorize and then LEARN to tie ALL of the PATTERNS together. After learning 4 or 5 basic blues patterns, you should be comfortable enough to sit in and jam with any band on the spot or turn on any blues song and figure out what key the song in written in and what notes are used to develop the songs framework very quickly. At the end of the lessons I will show how to automatically know what pattern (or scale) you need to start with anywhere on the guitar fret-board by the chord progression of the song. Don't think this is one of those "I can teach you how to play guitar in 1 hour guaranteed... etc. etc." crap. You WILL HAVE TO PRACTICE to learn to play lead guitar just like everyone else. So take about 6-8 months and dedicate the following to memory. My lesson is FREE - the way things should be, if you appreciate it or have any comments feel free to email me...
